Jessica Tett
Associate Trainer, Consultant
Jessica has worked in and around trauma her whole career: from working in countries with histories of generational and more recent collective traumas, to supporting individuals caught right in the middle of a traumatic event, to now exploring the impact of trauma in more depth and over time with private clients.
Jessica started off working as a teacher/trainer/manager, teaching English as a Foreign Language. She worked in Greece, Vietnam, Poland, China, Thailand and the UK. She presented at a number of international teaching conferences, typically sharing her research and practice in group work.
After 20 years of this, Jessica joined the Scottish Ambulance Service as an Emergency Call Handler, answering 999 calls. The high volume of mental health calls she received led Jessica to next re-train as a counsellor/psychotherapist, and she now works as a person-centred counsellor in private practice, based in Edinburgh.
To balance things out, Jessica loves dogs – and did an Emergency First Aid Course for Dogs this year. She also loves finding fabulous fabrics in charity shops, and transforming them into sometimes wearable clothes. To protect against old age, she's learning French, and is finding that adding French subtitles can transform even the worst TV into a cultural activity.
